Kids' Ski Boot Sizing Guide | Why a Slightly Bigger Size Is Better

When choosing ski boots for children, the most important thing is comfort.
At Niseko Ski Rentals, we believe that kids should enjoy skiing all day without sore or cramped feet. That's why we recommend a slightly roomier fit rather than a tight
performance fit.

Our Recommendation
For most children, we recommend ski boots that are about 2 cm larger than their actual foot length.
While this may sound bigger than expected, it provides the right balance of comfort and control for recreational skiing and rentals.
Why Choose a Bigger Size?
Children's feet grow quickly, and every child has a different foot shape.
A little extra room offers several benefits:
More comfortable for a full day on the slopes
Space for warm ski socks
Less pressure on growing feet
Better circulation, helping keep feet warmer
A more enjoyable first skiing experience
Rental Boots Should Prioritize Comfort
Professional and advanced skiers often wear very tight boots for maximum precision.
However, for children and beginner skiers, comfort is far more important than performance.
A child who isn't distracted by painful boots is more likely to:
Build confidence
Learn faster
Stay on the mountain longer
Have fun and want to ski again
Not Too Big
While we recommend approximately 2 cm of extra room, boots that are significantly larger are not ideal.
Oversized boots can reduce control and make skiing more difficult.
Our goal is to find the perfect balance between comfort and safety, giving children enough room to stay comfortable without sacrificing stability.
