We recently attended a BOA training session and learned more about how the system works and why it has become so popular in ski boots.

Why BOA?

BOA was introduced to alpine ski boots in 2023, and today around 65% of ski boots on the market use the BOA Fit System.

One of the biggest advantages of BOA is precise adjustment. The dial allows the fit to be tightened or loosened in increments of approximately 0.25 mm.

With traditional buckles, one setting can sometimes feel too loose while the next feels too tight. BOA allows much finer adjustment and helps the boot wrap more evenly around your foot.

This can provide a secure fit without unnecessary pressure.

A More Comfortable Choice for Beginners

For first-time and beginner skiers, we think comfortable ski boots are especially important.

Ski boots naturally feel very different from normal shoes, but pain shouldn’t be something you simply have to accept.

If your feet hurt, it can quickly take the enjoyment out of skiing.

That’s why we don’t think, “You’re a beginner, so traditional buckle boots are good enough.”

Instead, we want beginners to experience the comfort and easy adjustment of BOA from their first day on skis.

This is why we offer BOA ski boots in our Standard rental range as well as Premium.

BOA is also a great option for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Some experienced skiers have become used to thinking that ski boots are supposed to be tight and uncomfortable. But a secure performance fit doesn’t necessarily need to be painful.

The precise adjustment of BOA can help you find a better balance between support, control and comfort.

If you have always skied in traditional buckle boots, BOA is definitely worth trying.
